BNP has chalked out a two-day long program to celebrate the 83rd birthday of its founder, Ziaur Rahman.

The party will begin celebrating the occassion on Saturday, reports UNB.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the event at a press conference held at the party's Naya Paltan central office on Thursday.

The events include placing wreaths at the party president's grave, holding discussions, and publishing special supplements in newspapers.

Ziaur Rahman, born on January 19, 1936, in Bagbari of Bogra district, founded BNP in 1978 and was elected Bangladesh's seventh president.

BNP will also arrange a discussion at the Supreme Court Bar Association’s auditorium on Friday.

According to the UNB report, the party’s flag will be hoisted on top of all BNP offices across Bangladesh on Saturday. The event will begin with BNP senior leaders joining the party leader and activists to place the wreaths at Zia's grave around 10am on the day of the ceremony.

Members of BNP's associate bodies—as well as the party's district, city, and upazila units— will also observe the day amid various programs.
