The party’s senior joint secretary general said this at a press conference on Wednesday
BNP has alleged that the Election Commission's preparation for holding the next general election is questionable as it has been unable to appoint election officials for 85 upazilas.
The party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said this at a press conference in BNP's Naya Paltan central office on Wednesday, reports UNB.
He said the people's apprehension over a credible election is gradually increasing due to the activities of the Commission and the ruling party leaders.
"The Election Commission's overall preparation for the election is questionable. We are observing that all signs for holding a unilateral election are getting clear with the passage of time," he said.
The BNP leader further said: "The Election Commission has not yet appointed election officials at 85 upazilas.
“A move is on to appoint pro-government officials from different ministries to those upazilas to conduct the election as part of a government plot."
Rizvi said the ruling party leaders regularly hold meetings with government officials to turn the election results into their favour.
When is the election?
On November 12, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced a fresh schedule for the parliamentary election.
The commission said the polls will now be held on December 30 instead of December 23.
