On Wednesday, the ruling Awami League began interviewing nomination-seekers at Ganabhaban
Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has violated the electoral code of conduct by holding a meeting with party aspirants at her official residence, Ganabhaban, says BNP.
“The prime Minister's meeting with Awami League nominees at Ganabhaban is a clear violation of section 14 (2) of the electoral code,” BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told a press conference at the party’s Naya Paltan office on Thursday.
His remarks came one day after the ruling Awami League began interviewing nomination- seekers at Ganabhaban.
The prime minister presided over the interview session on Wednesday.
According to electoral code of conduct, government offices cannot be used for election purposes.
Rizvi also condemned Wednesday’s clash between police and BNP activists in front of the party office.
“Police suddenly attacked BNP activists, they also threw tear gas canisters and baton- charged our activists. Over 50 leaders and activists were injured yesterday,” he added.
