The list will also be sent to the President’s Office, adding to the list of1,046 cases BNP already sent last week

BNP has submitted another list of 1,002 ghost cases filed against its leaders and activists to the Prime Ministers' Office (PMO).

BNP Chairperson's Press Wing Officer Shamsuddin Didar told the Dhaka Tribune that the fresh list of false cases – as claimed by the party – was submitted to the PMO by BNP Assistant Office Secretary Taiful Islam Tipu on Tuesday.

The list, along with a letter signed by BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam, was received by PMO official Ruhul Amin around 5pm.

Shamsuddin Didar and case informant Salah Uddin were present during the handover.

Tipu said Tuesday’s list was incomplete like the previous list which was submitted last week.

The previous list, sent to the PMO on November 7, contained 1,046 such cases against BNP leaders and activists, filed by police in recent times.

The party will send more lists of such cases to the PMO in the days to come, Tipu said.

Moreover, he said they would send the same list to the Awami League president's Dhanmondi office.

During a dialogue with Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Front on November 1, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had asked the BNP leaders to submit the list of its arrested leaders and activists to her.

In a letter attached with the list, BNP requested the government to stop the arrest and harassment of its leaders and activists in “false” and “fictitious” cases. The party also urged the government to withdraw the cases.
