BNP has alleged that the Election Commission’s announcement of the next election schedule is aimed at holding another unilateral polls.

In an instant reaction on Thursday night at BNP chairperson's Gulshan office, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also said people will not accept any election which is against their hopes and aspirations.

Fakhrul came up with the remarks at a press conference after a meeting of the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

He added that as part of Jatiya Oikya Front, BNP had asked the Election Commission to postpone announcing the schedule, but that request has been ignored.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced the election schedule in a televised address to the nation on Thursday evening that the 11th parliamentary elections will be held on December 23.

He announced that the last date for submitting nomination papers is November 19 while the date for scrutinising nomination papers is November 22 and the last date for the withdrawal of nomination papers is November 29.
