The BNP has sent a partial list to the Prime Minister’s Office, containing, what it calls false, fabricated and politically motivated cases against its activists and members of its front organizations.

A letter, signed by the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and addressed to the prime minister personal assistant, was received by the PMO on Wednesday. The list contained 1,046 cases.

In the letter, Fakhrul claimed that activists of the BNP and its front organizations were being accused in false cases in large numbers, sent to jail and tortured in custody since September 1 this year.

The cases are even naming people who have already died or those who are staying abroad, he said.

Fakhrul said they were sending the partial list as asked by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the dialogue with Jatiya Oikya Front on November 1.

“We request to stop arresting and harassing our leaders and activists in these false cases and withdrawing these cases,” the letter read.
