23 AL, alliance members to attend talks with Oikya Front

The talks will be held on Thursday

A 22-member delegation of the Grand Alliance led by Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will attend the much anticipated dialogue with the Jatiya Oikya Front on Thursday.

Apart from Hasina, there will be 18 people from Awami League, among them – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Advisers Amir Hossain Amu and Tofail Ahmed, Presidium Members Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Mohammad Nasim, Kazi Zafar Ullah, Mohammad Abdur Razzaq, Abdul Matin Khasru and Sri Ramesh Chandra Sen.

Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman will also attend the dialogue.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Abdus Sobhan Golap, Publication and Publicity Secretary Hasan Mahmud, along with S M Rezaul Karim and Law Minister Anisul Huq will be there.

Outside of Awami League, leaders of the 14-party alliance Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, Dilip Barua and Mainuddin Khan Badol will also be present at the meeting.

On the other hand, a 16-member Oikya Front team led by its chief and Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain will take part in the talks at Ganabhaban at 7pm on Thursday.

On Sunday, Dr Kamal wrote to the prime minister, urging her to sit and discuss various issues regarding the 11th national election with them “in order to reach a political consensus for a free and fair election”.

On Tuesday, Awami League Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap handed over the prime minister’s invitation letter for the meeting to Dr Kamal.
