BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said the party aims to hold a peaceful rally on Sunday.
He made the statement at a press conference on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, BNP received permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for holding a public rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan on Sunday.
Addressing the conference, Rizvi said: “We were a bit concerned regarding the DMP’s permission for our rally, but we are now relieved.
“BNP aims to hold a peaceful public rally, and we are optimistic about getting full cooperation from the government and the administration. Sunday’s program will be one of the most historic and successful events organized by the BNP.”
Rizvi also invited BNP leaders and activists from Dhaka and nearby areas, such as Manikganj, Tangail, Munshiganj and Keraniganj, to attend the scheduled rally.
