Forest and Environment Minister: Jatiya Party will contest in 300 constituencies

The minister was speaking as chief guest on the occasion of the 2nd Jatiya Party's bi-annual conference on Thursday at the Moulvibazar municipal auditorium

Jatiya Party (JaPa) Presidium Member and Forest and Environment Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud said that only four months were left for the 11th parliamentary election, the Jatiya Party will come to power only through election. JaPa Chairman HM Ershad decided that the Jatiya Party will contest in the upcoming national election in all 300 constituencies. 

The minister was speaking as chief guest on the occasion of the 2nd Jatiya Party's bi-annual conference on Thursday at the Moulvibazar municipal auditorium.

He said: “This is not the first time we are contesting for an election. A head of a party is in jail right now, I do not know whether they will contest the election or not.But when the head of our party (Ershad) was in jail, he was not late for a moment to decide.The only medium to change power is through election. The Jatiya Party will come to power through election.”

JaPa General Secretary ABM Ruhul Kabir Hawlader was the chief speaker at the program. The conference was presided over by Moulvibazar District JaPa President Syed Shahabuddin Ahmad and General Secretary Nurul Huq.

The Secretary General said:“Ershad’s tenure did not have a concept of case-attack. He (Ershad) was in jail for 27 years. He also urged the leaders and workers of the party to win the election with the hope to end all killings and terrorism. He said that a new committee will be formedto manage the election, and as per suggestion by the party members, the new committee will be formed andannounced by next week.”
