The party will celebrate its 40th founding anniversary on Sept 1
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police has agreed, in principal, to allow the BNP organize a rally on September 1.
Police’s Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune that police, however, has imposed some conditions for the rally.
“We are now processing documents related to the BNP’s rally,” he said.
The BNP will celebrate its 40th founding anniversary on September 1.
The party’s Publicity Affairs Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anne said they got the verbal permission to hold the rally in front of their Nayapaltan central office, reports UNB.
The BNP leader said DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia gave them the permission as he and two other party leaders met him at his office around 1:30pm.
Later, at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said they have taken all-out preparation to make the rally a success.
He said the rally will begin around 2pm where party senior leaders will address.
Rizvi said their party leaders and activists will go to BNP founder's grave the same day at 10am instead of 11am to place wreaths.
On August 14, Rizvi announced to hold the public rally either at Suhrawardy Udyan or in front of their Nayapaltan central office on the occasion of their party's founding anniversary.
