BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the plans on Tuesday
BNP has announced various events to celebrate its 40th founding anniversary on September 1.
The events include a public rally, discussions, raising the party’s flag, and placing wreaths at the grave of party founder Ziaur Rahman, reports UNB.
The arrangements were worked out at a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies at BNP's Naya Paltan central office—with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir chairing.
After the meeting on Tuesday, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced its outcomes.
The party flag will be hoisted atop its central and all other offices across Bangladesh, at 6am, on September 1.
Party leaders and activists will place wreaths at the grave of its founder, ex-president Ziaur Rahman, at 11am on the same day.
A rally at 3pm is also scheduled for the same day either at Suhrawardy Udyan, or in front of the BNP office, depending on whether the authorities concerned grant permission.
A discussion has also been arranged at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh the following day.
Additionally, the party's associate bodies, and all of its units across the country, will mark the day hosting various other events, including discussion meetings.
On September 1, 1978, Ziaur Rahman formed BNP with a 19-point program. BNP has served three terms in power.
