BNP’s annual audit report shows an increase in party income

A BNP delegation led by Joint Secretary General AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, submitted the income expenditure report for 2017 to the commission on Tuesday.

The annual income of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has increased, according to the annual audit report submitted by the party to the Election Commission.

A BNP delegation led by Joint Secretary General AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, submitted the income expenditure report for 2017 to the commission on Tuesday.

According to the report, BNP’s income was Tk9.4624 crore in 2017 and expenditure was Tk4.1931 crore, a surplus of Tk5.2652 crore. In 2016, the party’s income was Tk4.1368 crore and expenditure, Tk3.9963 crore.

As per the Representation of the People Order (RPO) 1972, all political parties have to submit their annual income and expenditure reports by July 31. 

Though some parties have already submitted reports, the ruling Awami League party is yet to submit a report. 

Election Commission Deputy Secretary Abdul Halim said the Awami League has sought more time to submit its report. The party wanted until September for the submission.
