BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has warned that leaders and activists of their party will take to the streets at “short notice” if their chairperson, Khaleda Zia, is not released from jail before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
Speaking at a press conference at the party's Naya Paltan headquarters on Sunday, Rizvi also warned that the consequences would be very bad if the government and the jail authorities do not take proper steps for treatment of Khaleda as she “suffered a mild stroke”.
"Take immediate steps for the release of our leader and ensure her better treatment before the Eid; or else, the Nationalist forces will take a vow to wage a tougher movement," he said.
He also demanded the government allow the BNP chief and former prime minister to receive treatment at a specialized hospital immediately.
