BNP nominated mayoral candidate Nazrul Islam Monju has alleged that the ruling party leaders and activists are preventing his polling agents from entering at least 20 centres of the ongoing Khulna City Corporation elections.
Monju came up with the allegation after casting his vote at Rahima Government Primary School polling centre around 8:45am on Tuesday.
Manju also alleged that his agents were obstructed from entering the polling centres of Ward 22.
Besides, the ruling party men also beat one of his polling agents at Zila School centre, alleged the BNP candidate.
Meanwhile, speaking to the correspondent, Khulna BNP Assistant Office Secretary Shamsuzzaman Chanchal complained that BNP leaders and activists are being prevented from entering polling centres in Ward No 22, 28 and 31 of the city.
He also claimed that the Nirala School polling centre in Ward 24 has no ballot paper.
The balloting began at 8 am and will continue till 4pm without any break.
A total of five mayoral candidates, 148 general councillor and 38 reserved-seat female councillor candidates are there in the election race.
