The BNP has demanded that the Bangladesh Army be deployed during the city corporation polls of Gazipur and Khulna (GCC and KCC election).
BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain made the disclosure in front of reporters on Tuesday, stating that the army should be deployed at least seven days before the two city polls.
The party also demanded immediate withdrawal of the Gazipur Superintendent of Police Mohammad Harun Ur Rashid.

Earlier the same day, a BNP delegation met with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nurul Huda at the Election Commission (EC) and pressed the abovementioned demands during a meeting.
The delegation, led by Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, also discussed the upcoming local government and general elections with the CEC.
BNP Standing Committee Members such as Dr Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury participated in the meeting.
Voting for the GCC and KCC polls will be held on May 15.
