The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will be sending out a three-member team to seek permission from Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan to hold a rally demanding the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The party intends to organize the rally on March 29 to enforce their demand.
BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Vice Chairman Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and Altaf Hossain Chowdhury will be meeting the home minister at his Secretariat office around 12pm Tuesday, according to Shairul Kabir Khan, member of the BNP chairperson’s media wing.
Earlier on March 24, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir had confirmed a delegation will ask the home minister for permission to organize the rally, despite being turned down three times already.
He had hoped this instance would be different.
On February 8, Khaleda Zia was found guilty by a Dhaka court and sentenced to five years' imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
