President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSoD) and Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu said BNP is leaderless.
Speaking at a distribution program for the book “Bangabandhu’s Oshomapto Attyojiboni” at the Upazila Parishad Intersection of Kushtia’s Mirpur upazila at around 1:15pm on Saturday, he also said anyone who does not acknowledge the March 7 speech of Bangabandhu is a Pakistani or razakar agent and is an enemy of the country.
“Whoever doubts the blood debt of three million martyrs or the barbarism of the Pakistani army is a traitor to the people. Such people are saboteurs of the state and are allied to terrorists and arsonists. I suggest that they know the real history of the country and stop subscribing to fallacies,” the minister said.
According to UNB, the minister referred to BNP's demands for Khaleda Zia's jail release, her getting bail, and supportive government as excuses to boycott next election.
Jatiyo Naari Jot President Afroza Haque Rina, Kushtia Additional Police Superintendent (Circle) Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui, JaSoD Central Committee Publicity Secretary Karim Swapan, and others also spoke at the event.
Notably, while Inu was distributing the book among Kushtia’s school and college students in the district’s Bheramara upazila earlier, he said: “BNP has a bad habit of lying. They do not consider Bangabandhu to be the Father of the Nation. They talk about freeing Khaleda, about a caretaker government, and about a false indictment and prosecution only to foil a proper, fair election.”
“They do not have the guts to run in an election with Khaleda Zia as chairperson in the wake of her being found guilty of corruption. The court will decide Khaleda’s fate. The government has nothing to do with this,” he added.
