BNP is going to organize a countrywide human chain as part of a previously announced activity demanding the release of party Chairperson Khaleda Zia, convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
The activity will last from 11am till midday on Tuesday in front of the National Press Club inside the capital, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
He informed this in a press conference held in the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan on Monday.
Rizvi further said: "A sit-in program will be held from 11am till midday on Thursday [March 8] demanding Khaleda Zia's release. We are requesting all BNP and BNP affiliated party leaders and members to participate in the activities."
Criticizing Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader's comments on BNP's role behind the attack on Dr Zafar Iqbal, Rizvi said: "Obaidul Quader's comments left the whole nation stunned. But people know that, it was Awami League who attacked Dr Zafar Iqbal to take their attention away from the matter of Khaleda Zia's imprisonment.
"The more we are getting to know about the attacker's identity, the clearer AL's connection to it is becoming," said Rizvi.
