Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called on President Md Abdul Hamid at the Bangabhaban on Thursday evening.
"The prime minister arrived at Bangabhaban around 8:04pm," President's Press Secretary Joynul Abedin told UNB.
During the meeting, he said, Sheikh Hasina informed the president about his nomination by the Awami League Parliamentary Board as the ruling party candidate to contest the presidential election slated for February 18.
She also handed over a letter to Hamid to this end.
Hasina congratulated the president on being nominated for the president post for the second term, said Joynul.
In reply, Hamid expressed his gratitude to Awami League Parliamentary Board chief Hasina for nominating him for the president post.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Law Minister Anisul Huq and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister M Nojibur Rahman were also present during the meeting.
On Wednesday night, the ruling party nominated incumbent President Hamid as its candidate to contest the presidential election.
The nomination was finalised at a meeting of the Awami League Parliamentary Board held at the prime minister's official residence, Ganobhaban, with Hasina in the chair.
