In response to a remark by the secretary general of BNP, an ultimatum was issued by Awami League's joint general secretary.
"Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has made a mistake by seeking an apology from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and he will have to pay for his insidious remarks," said Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif.
Hanif made the remark while attending the triennial conference of Patia upazila unit Awami League at the upazila headquarters on Saturday.
He said: “Mirza Fakhrul is desperate to save BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman. He sought an apology from the prime minister to hide Khaleda and Tarique’s corruption. He will have to pay the extreme price for this.”
Hanif said he was surprised to see how a politician can stand by the side of “internationally recognized corrupt people.”
He also mentioned: “World Bank has failed to prove corruption against our government. The Sheikh Hasina-led government has built the Padma Bridge with public financing.”
