The Election Commission (EC) has drafted a schedule to sit with representatives of BNP and ruling Awami League on October 12 and October 16 respectively, as part of its ongoing dialogues with registered political parties.
The electoral authorities are also planning to sit with representatives of incumbent opposition HM Ershad –led Jatiya Party on October 9, confirms acting EC Secretary Helaluddin.
He also said the draft schedule will be placed at the Commission's meeting soon for final approval.
The Election Commission initiated its dialogues with 40 registered political parties on August 24, to take their opinions over its preparation for the next national election, likely to be held in late December 2018.
The Commission invited parties from the bottom of the list in line with the sequence of registration.
The Election Commission earlier fixed the dialogue schedule for 20 other parties. Seven parties have so far pitched their opinions at the EC's dialogues.
Earlier, the EC also held talks with civil society members on July 31, and media representatives on August 16 and 17.
