BNP joint secretary general has called that the government and the two Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) mayors responsible behind the spread of Chikunguniya, reports Bangla Tribune.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has made the above observation at a press briefing held at the party's central office on Sunday.
Rizvi said: “Chikunguniya, which started in Dhaka, has turned into an epidemic countrywide. The current government and DCC mayors cannot deny their responsible for this.”
He called out the DCC mayors for making “bizarre statements to avoid taking responsibility” even though they have “claimed to have spent hundreds of crores to eradicate the mosquitoes”.

Rizvi also said that the government and its representatives are “ridiculing people's misery”. He questioned the transparency behind the use of the said money as the DCC mayors “could not yet control the spread of the disease”.
“The city corporation has also been unable to provide the people with other necessary services,” he added.
