The nation is not going to enjoy the coming Eid-ul-Fitr, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday morning.
“The citizens of this nation are becoming hopeless on the eve of this Eid,” Rizvi said in a press conference held at the party’s central office.
“There is no joy in the minds of general people. The price of rice has risen to Tk50-55. They are struggling to buy new clothes for their children in this Eid because they are having trouble buying essential commodities,” the BNP leader added.
Furthermore, Rizvi spoke against the leaders of the ruling party, claiming that they were shopping abroad with millions in looted money. “They are doing their shopping in places like Singapore, Bangkok or Calcutta. The media says that almost 200,000 people have travelled overseas for this year’s Eid shopping.”
“The local businessmen are frustrated with their low sales. It is becoming even harder for them to afford commodities necessary for day to day life,” he said.
