Inu: BNP’s supporting govt idea a conspiracy

The minister was addressing a programme at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) on Sunday. On February 13, BNP spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir revealed the party’s proposal for an “election-time supporting government” at the party’s central office. He announced that the party would soon send a proposal to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for this government. “BNP’s supporting government idea is a new conspiracy and it is part of their plan to foil elections and create the field to form an abnormal government,” Inu said. BNP chairperson and others leaders get release from cases and makes field to for Bargaining they (BNP) say to this proposal for the “supporting government,” he added. BNP’s threat to boycott election is a threat to harm democracy, he said. The information minister said the draft of the National Broadcast Act 2016 would be placed in the next session of the parliament. A broadcast commission will be formed based on the act. The act will have provisions to cancel electronic and online media licences. A draft of the Broadcast Act 2016 has been prepared with a provision of jail term and fine for violating the rules or regulations of the act. It also stipulates a maximum penalty of three months’ imprisonment or a fine of Tk5 lakh or both for violating the act or orders from the commission.
