Prof Faruk, a former chairperson of the Faculty of Fine Arts at RU, served as principal of Rajshahi Art College for a long time
Prof Golam Faruk of Rajshahi University (RU) died on Wednesday evening while undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in Dhaka.
Faruk, who was 62 at the time of his death, was a professor in the Department of Painting, Oriental Art and Printmaking at RU.
Prof Faruk leaves behind his wife, two daughters, son and a number of well-wishers.
The late professor’s first namaz-e-janaza was held in Mohammadpur, while the second one was held at RU central mosque. His body was buried at his family graveyard in Sherpur’s Munsichar.
University teachers and staff members, including RU Vice Chancellor M Abdus Sobhan, recalled his contributions to higher education and research in the field of fine arts and expressed their sympathies with the grieving family.
Prof Faruk, a former chairperson of the Faculty of Fine Arts at RU, served as principal of Rajshahi Art College for a long time.
The professor was the recipient of numerous honours in his lifetime, including the national award of Shilpakala Academy.
