Shahidul Alam wins ICP photography award

The award will be presented to him in New York City, US

Internationally renowned photographer, activist, and founder of Drik and Pathshala South Asian Media Institute Shahidul Alam has been selected as the recipient of International Center of Photography’s (ICP) Special Presentation Award 2019.

The award will be presented to him at the 35th annual Infinity Awards gala on April 2 in New York City, US, read a press release.

Each year, the Infinity Awards acknowledge the significant talents of those using photography and visual arts to shed light on and make an impact on an ever-changing world.

Shahidul will be receiving the award as a photojournalist, who has long given the world essential insight into politics, refugee crises, and more, bringing visibility to critical social justice issues.

ICP is the world’s leading institution dedicated to photography and visual culture. It was founded in 1974 to preserve the legacy of “concerned photography”—the creation of socially and politically minded images that have the potential to educate and change the world.
