48 daily newspapers in Bangladesh have over 100,000 in circulation

Dhaka Tribune has been ranked among the top most circulated English daily newspapers in Bangladesh.

Among the English dailies published from Dhaka, The Daily Star, Financial Express, Dhaka Tribune, Independent, Observer, Bangladesh Post, Asian Age, Daily Tribunal and Bangladesh Today are the top most ones, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud told the parliament on Tuesday.

The minister came up with the list while responding to a question from Dhaka-20 lawmaker Benjir Ahmed at parliament.

The minister said there are 48 daily newspapers in Bangladesh with over 100,000 in circulation. Among them, eight do have circulations over 200,000 copies in circulation.

These newspapers are: Bangladesh Pratidin, Prothom Alo, Kaler Kantha, Jugantor, Ittefaq, Amader Somoy, Janakantha, Samakal and Sangbad, he said.

Currently, there are 1,277 daily newspapers published in Bangladesh. Among them, 218 are national Bangla dailies, 293 are regional Bangla dailies, and 40 English dailies.

Among the regional dailies, Ajker Barta from Barisal tops the list with 80,050 circulations. On the other hand, newspapers with over 50,000 circulation includes Korotoa from Bogra, Purbokon from Chittagong, Chandnibazar from Bogra and Ajker Poriborton from Barisal.
