Rahgir Almahi Ershad takes oath as lawmaker

Rahgir won the by-polls held on October 5 as the Rangpur-3 seat

Rahgir Almahi Ershad, elected from Rangpur-3, has taken his oath as a member of the parliament.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath at 12:15pm at her office in the parliament on Thursday.

Sangsad Senior Secretary Dr Jafar Ahmed Khan moderated the function. 

HM Ershad’s son Rahgir won the by-polls held on October 5 as the Rangpur-3 seat fell vacant due to the death of Jatiya Party founder HM Ershad.

Hew bagged 58,878 votes and his nearest rival BNP’s Rita Rahman secured 16947 votes 

Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, Opposition leader in the parliament Raushan Ershad, Whips Iqbalur Rahim, Atiur Rahman Atique, M Shamsul Haque, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Faruque Khan MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief AB Tajul Islam MP, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque Chunnu MP, Fakhrul Imam MP, Masud Uddin Chowdhury MP and Syed Zakia Nur MP, among others, were present on the occasion.
