4th parliament session begins

President Abdul Hamid on August 21 convened the fourth session of the 11th parliament

The fourth session of the 11th parliament has begun after a 59-day recess.

The session started at 5pm on Sunday with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Earlier at 4pm, the business advisory committee of parliament sat in a meeting to fix its duration and businesses.

President Abdul Hamid on August 21 convened the fourth session of the 11th parliament.

On July 11 last, the third session (budget session) of the parliament was prorogued, which passed the national budget for 2019-20 fiscal year, supplementary budget for 2018-19 and seven bills.

Speaker nominates panel of chairmen for parliament

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Sunday nominated a five-member panel of chairmen for the fourth session of the 11th parliament.

The panel members are Abdus Shahid, Enamul Huq, Mrinal Kanti Das, Kazi Firoz Rashid, and Jaya Sen Gupta.

The speaker announced their names in the beginning of the day's business.

They will conduct the House proceedings in chronological order in the absence of the speaker and the deputy speaker.
