Budget session in parliament begins Tuesday

The budget session in parliament for the 2018-19 financial year will begin Tuesday morning.

On May 15, President Md Abdul Hamid had summoned the session exercising the power bestowed upon him by the Article 72 (1) of the constitution.

It is the 21st session of the 10th parliament. It will be the last budget of the incumbent Awami League government.

The House proceeding will begin at 11am with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury in the chair.

Before commencing the session, a meeting of the parliament’s Working Advisory Committee will fix the schedule of country’s 47th and fifth budget of the current government.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will place the budget proposal for 2018-19FY on June 7.

As the finance minister, Muhith will be placing his 12th budget.

He placed his first budget for 1982-83 fiscal during the Ershad government.
