This temple never came under attack over the last decade
Unidentified miscreants vandalised six idols at a Kali temple of the Hindu community in Sirajdikhan upazila, Munshiganj in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident took place at the Daniapara Maha Shashan Kali Mandir under Rashunia union around 4am, said Sirajdikhan police OC Md Borhanuddin.
Several locals found out about the matter when they went to the temple later in the morning. They found the temple’s main gate broken and the idol of Goddess Kali as well as the other idols in the temple vandalized.
Later the local Hindu community leaders informed the police. A case was filed by the temple authorities at Sirajdikhan police station.
Police said the miscreants possibly entered the temple by cutting through the tin roof. They said this was a pre-planned act and they were investigating.
"The temple had been here for more than a decade and this is the first time something like this has happened," added OC Kamruzzaman.
