Three policemen injured as angry mob clashes with law enforcers
A teenager was reportedly killed over mobile game PUBG, or PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, in Singair upazila, Manikganj.
The deceased has been identified as Raju, a fourth-grader at South Sahrail Kindergarten School.
Police also detained a 16-year-old teenager from the same neighbourhood over his involvement in the murder, said Mankganj District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Golam Azad Khan.
According to Raju's father Moslem Uddin, his son and the other teen had gotten into an argument recently after Raju threatened to inform everyone that the other boy hacked the PUBG game and IDs of other gamers.
The teen took Raju to a catkin field and hit him on the head with a brick before suffocating him to death with his own clothes, Moslem claimed.
On Thursday, when his family was unable to locate Raju, they had even gone to the other boy's house to find him.
At around 9pm, a local found Raju and took him to Ibrahim Memorial Hospital from where he was transferred to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar.
Raju succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, locals and the deceased’s family demonstrated in front of the accused teen's house over the incident, said SP Khan.
He said that when police went to bring the situation under control, the mob clashed with them and three policemen were injured.
