Police have detained his grandson for questioning
The body of a man in his sixties was found buried under his house in Mymensingh, say police.
The incident was reported late on Thursday from a village at the district’s Muktagacha upazila.
Victim Abdur Rashid’s grandson, Manjurul Islam Babu has been detained for questioning.
Rashid was last seen on Sunday afternoon when he said he was off to visit the doctor, Inspector Chan Mia of the Muktagacha police said, quoting neighbours.
After that Babu, who lived with the victim, also went out, saying that he was going to his in-laws’ place and the house had been locked since then, said the police officer.
“On Thursday, Rashid’s relatives in nearby houses knocked down the door following a suspicious smell coming from the house and found the body buried under the floor,” he said.
A widower, Rashid lived with his grandson in that home, said Muktagacha Police OC Mahmudul Hasan.
“The body has no injury marks, but we suspect it’s a murder,” he said before adding details will be available once the autopsy is done at the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
