The district has so far recorded 16,828 cases and 259 deaths
The Covid-19 situation marked an improvement in Tangail with no deaths and cases reported in the 24 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings for the first time in six months.
A total of 94 samples were tested and the results were negative.
According to the Tangail Civil Surgeon Office, the last time Tangail reported no new cases was on April 4. Out of the 21 samples tested that day, all of them resulted in negative.
As of Wednesday morning, a total of 16,828 people were infected by the deadly virus in the district. And the death toll remained unchanged at 259 during the same period.
However, in June and July, Tangail saw an increase both in infection rates and deaths. Later in August and September, the number of infections decreased.
As of late, the district’s infection rates have remained lower than 5%
According to the Tangail Civil Surgeon Office, so far, a total of 15,199 patients have recovered from Covid-19.
There are 1,357 people receiving treatment at home.
The number of patients admitted to the hospital is 13.
So far, a total of 38,185 people have been quarantined in the district, and of them, 36,577 people have been given clearance to go home.
To date, 85,889 samples have been tested in the district.
Tangail Civil Surgeon Dr Abul Fazal Md Shahabuddin Khan said “The infection rate in the district is currently under control.” He has sought cooperation from all quarters to keep this trend going.
He also urged everyone to follow health guidelines to prevent the infection from spreading further.
