Efforts are being made to nab the other absconding cohorts of the arrested individuals, says RAB-13
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 79kg contraband cannabis, with a private car and a pickup van and arrested three presumed drug traders from Dhaka Bus stand point in Mithapukur upazila of the district on Friday.
The arrestees were identified as Md Yunus Ali, 24, hailed from Kurigram and Md Antor Ali, 21, and Md Nazmul Islam, 22, hailing from Rangpur district.
Tipped off, an operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 conducted a raid on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway early in the morning, said a press release issued by Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Flt Lt Mahmud Bashir Ahmed.
After searching the private car and pickup van, the elite force seized 79kg cannabis, the two vehicles, and other goods from their possessions and arrested them from the spot.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they had been involved in trading drugs for a long time.
"After filing a case in this connection against the arrestees, RAB handed over him to the Mithapukur police station," the release said, adding that efforts are being made to nab the other absconding cohorts of the arrested individuals.
