Messages about their organization's extremist activities found stored in their phones, say police
The Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police on Friday claimed to have arrested two members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from Muktagachha upazila in Mymensingh.
The arrestees were identified as Md Kawsar Ahmed alias Milon, 30, of Muktagacha, and Zahid Mostafa, 20, of Chandimondo village.
Acting on a tip-off, sources said, an ATU team raided the Kalibari Mosque area under Muktagachha’s Chechua Bazar on Thursday night and nabbed the duo.
Two mobile phones, four SIM cards and seven books on extremism were seized from their possession, the ATU said in a release.
It said screenshots of 34-page Facebook and Messenger chats about their organization's extremist activities were found stored in their phones.
The duo was selling books on extremism to ABT members across the country, using multiple fake Facebook profiles.
A case was filed against them at Muktagachha police station, said the release.
