Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a man with over four kg of opium worth Tk4 crore 30 lakhs in Bandarban district.
Acting on a tip-off, a Chittagong RAB 7 team led by its Deputy Director Major Nasir conducted a raid on Kachhaptali village under Rowangchhari upazila of Bandarban district on Sunday and recovered the drugs.
The recovered opium along with the accused was handed over to Rowangchhari police station.
The accused was identified as Prothoyai Marma, 70, son of late Paishai Marma from Kachhaptali Para.
According to sources, he had been engaging in opium trade while working as a Kabiraj for a long time.
Rowangchhari police station Officer in-Charge (OC) Md Touhid Kabir said RAB lodged a case against Prothoyai Marma under the Narcotics Act.
