Three people on Thursday died after supposedly consuming toxic liquor at Elasin Sanbari Paschimpara under Delduar upazila in Tangail.
The deceased were identified as Md Nasir Sikder, 32, Md Parvez Miah, 26, and Md Akkas Miah, 22.
Delduar police station Officer in-Charge (OC) Sajjad Hossain confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
According to locals, the three friends got together around 9pm and began drinking alcohol. At one point, they became severely ill and fell unconscious.
Upon receiving the news, the families of the victims took them to Tangail General Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared Nasir and Parvez dead upon arrival.
Later, Akkas also passed away around 1:30am while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Delduar police station OC Sajjad Hossain said the incident is being investigated to uncover further details.
Preparations were being taken to lodge an unnatural death case in this connection, he added.
