The deadly disease has so far killed 469 people in the division
Barisal Division recorded 14 more Covid-19-related deaths in the 24 hours between Friday and Saturday mornings.
Of them, eight were confirmed Covid-19 patients and the other six were showing symptoms of the deadly disease -- which has so far killed 469 people in the division, according to Dr Basudeb Kumar Das, the divisional health director.
Between Friday and Saturday mornings, 322 new Covid-19 cases were also recorded in the six districts under the division, taking the total number of cases to 33,144.
Of the total number of patients, however, 18,959 people have recovered.
Dr Das said of the eight latest deceased, three had died in Jhalakathi, two each in Barisal and Bhola, and one in Patuakhali.
He said six of the deceased who were showing symptoms of Covid-19 had passed away in the isolation ward of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH).
SBMCH sources said 776 patients with symptoms have so far died in the hospital’s isolation ward and 301 confirmed patients in the corona ward.
Currently, the hospital is treating 340 people in both wards.
