A total of 1,279 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in all eight districts of the Rajshahi division in the last 24 hours until Thursday morning, taking the caseload of Covid-19 to 57,033.
With 17 more fatalities from the disease reported afresh on the day, the death toll reached 890, including 397 in Bogra, 160 in Rajshahi with 91 in its city and 113 in Chapainawabganj, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, director of Rajshahi Divisional Health Office.

Among the infected people, 39,447 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 475 new recoveries reported on Wednesday.
A total of 6,304 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here while 12,732 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision.
Of them, 8,934 have by now been released. On the other hand, 728 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 480 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8am Thursday.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 377 were detected in Rajshahi, including 281 in the city, followed by 225 in Natore, 192 in Pabna, 134 in Bogra, 119 in Sirajganj, 110 in Naogaon, 93 in Joypurhat, and 29 in Chapainawabgan.
With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 17,640 in Rajshahi, including 14,243 in its city, 4,150 in Chapainawabganj, 4,634 in Naogaon, 3,848 in Natore, 3,489 in Joypurhat, 13,973 in Bogra, 4,606 in Sirajganj and 4,693 in Pabna.
A total of 85,008 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus.
Of them, 76,638 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.
Meanwhile, the surge of Covid-19 cases has been continuing in all eight districts of the division since the very beginning of the second wave making the division a hotspot of the deadly virus.
22 more die in RMCH Covid-19 unit
A total of 22 more people, including ten women, died at the Covid-19 unit of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) during the last 24 hours till Thursday morning, taking the death toll to 374 since May 31.
RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani told journalists that 14 of those were the residents of Rajshahi, five from Naogaon and one each from Chapainawabganj and Natore districts.
Of the deaths, three were aged between 21 and 30, two were 31 to 40, four were 41 to 50, four were 51 to 60 and nine were above 61.
Among the deaths, five tested Covid-19 positive and the rest 17 were suffering from its symptoms, he added.
Yazdani said the hospital had counted a record number of 25 fatalities caused by Covid-19 on Tuesday since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile, 66 more patients, including 47 from Rajshahi, seven from Chapainawabganj, four each from Naogaon and Natore, two from Joypurhat and one each from Pabna and Kushtia districts, were admitted to the designated ward of the hospital during the time, taking its number to 462.
