Amar Jibon Chakma had left the UPDF faction two years ago and been living a normal life.
The mutilated body of a former activist of a United People's Democratic Front faction (UPDF - Prasit group) has been recovered from Dighinala upazila in Khagrachhari.
Amar Jibon Chakma's hands were tied behind his back and he was blindfolded when his body was found at Noapara of the upazila's Boradom area.
Family and police said several masked assailants whisked Amar away from home late at night on Saturday. His body, with multiple sharp weapon wounds, was found later.
Amar had left the UPDF faction two years ago and been living a normal life. Amar, son of Kishore Chakma, lived with his family in Machalong area of Sajek.
Apart from selling vegetables at Noapara to earn a living, he had gotten married recently.
Dighinala police station OC AKM Peyar Ahmed said police and army patrols were increased in the area where Amar's body was found.
The body is being sent for an autopsy, he said, adding that an investigation has started and they are yet to find out the motive and the people behind the murder.
