Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two suspects including a police official on drug trading charges in Narayanganj.
The arrestees have been identified as, Nizam Uddin Sheikh, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) stationed at the Demra police station, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), and one Nasir Uddin.
They were arrested during different drives in the Nimaikashari Bagmara area of Siddhirganj upazila on Saturday night.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mashiur Rahman, said: “Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB 10 arrested Nasir Uddin with total190 yaba pills from near the Bagmara College Road area on Saturday afternoon.
“During interrogation, Nasir said that ASI Nizam gave him the drugs to sell. The police official was later arrested following Nasir’s confession.”
“A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act. The two accused have been handed over to us,” the OC added.
According to sources, Nasir had been selling the drugs provided by ASI Nizam for the last four months
“We are investigating the matter. Necessary steps will be taken upon further investigation,” OC Mashiur Rahman told this correspondent.
