The microbus heading towards Dhaka fell into the Padma River while getting on a ferry
A microbus driver went missing after the vehicle fell into the Padma River while boarding a ferry at Daulatdia ferry terminal on Tuesday.
The incident took place when the microbus plunged into the river after the wire of a pontoon at Paturia ghat 5 in Rajbari snapped during a sudden nor'wester around 11:15am.
On information, Fire Service divers started a rescue operation at around 12:30pm and later salvaged the microbus at 1pm.
The missing driver is yet to be identified, confirmed Fire Service and Civil Defence Inspector Ashraful Islam.
The official added that the vehicle did not have any passengers other than its driver.
