She sustained a stab wound to the neck and a rope was also wrapped around her neck
An 11-year-old girl was allegedly killed after she resisted a rape attempt in Feni's Sadar upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was a sixth standard student of a local madrasa. Police have detained the deceased's cousin in connection with the alleged crime.
Cops suspect the accused tried to rape the girl, finding her alone in her house, but soon stabbed her to death when she resisted the bid and tried to raise an alarm.
Later the accused strangled the girl with a rope. The girl's mother discovered the body in the terrace after she returned home. Cops were subsequently alerted by neighbours.
Superintendent of Police Khandaker Nurunnabi rushed to the spot along with senior police officers of the district.
"CID and PBI sleuths have been roped in to assist in the investigation. We have also collected some evidence from the spot," he told UNB.
Feni Model Police Station OC (investigation) Omar Haider said, "The body has been sent to Feni General Hospital Morgue. She sustained a stab wound to the neck and a rope was also wrapped around her neck."
