The accident occurred when a brick-laden truck crashed into a roadside car workshop around 1:40am on Monday
Three people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Darbasth area on Sylhet-Tamabil Highway under Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet in the early hours of Monday.
The deceased were identified as Suhel Ahmed, 35, owner of a car workshop, Sultan Ahmed Minhaz, 27, and Ashikur Rahman, 31, of Dholibil Daksin village under Kanaighat upazila of the district.
Police said the accident occurred when a brick-laden truck crashed into a roadside car workshop around 1:40am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving three dead on the spot and injuring two others.
“Police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital,” said Golam Dastagir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jaintapur police station, adding that the wounded were also taken to the hospital.
The bodies will be handed over to their family members after post-mortem, he further said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection.
Earlier on Sunday morning, five people including two children were killed as a truck hit a CNG-run autorickshaw at the highway's Ferighat area.
