Police are working to identify and arrest the others involved in the incident
Police have arrested two people for their reported involvement in the recent attack on cops by Hefazat men in Bagerhat.
The arrestees have been identified as, Rafin Sardar, and Tran Mollah.
They were arrested on Monday night following a case filed by Md Shahinur Rahman Golder, a Sub-Inspector (SI) at Mollahat police station.
The case has been lodged against 24 named and several unnamed accused.
Mollahat police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Golam Kabir confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.
He said: “We have been able to arrest two people over the attack. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the others involved.
“Abdullah Khandokar, a relative of Hefazat-e-Islam Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque, has been made the main accused in the case.”

At least four policemen, including the officer-in-charge of a police station, were injured during Monday’s attack.
The incident took place in front of the Mollahat Upazila Health Complex at around 11am, said Bagerhat Additional Superintendent of Police Mir Shafin Mahmud, adding “Teachers and students of various madrasas took out a rally Monday morning and were marching towards Udaipur while protesting the arrest of Hefazat leader Mamunul.”
When the police stopped them at the corner of the hospital, the protesters began hurling brickbats at them.
At that time, four policemen, including Mollahat police OC Kazi Golam Kabir, were injured. The injured were first-aid at the Mollahat Upazila Health Complex.
