A case under the Explosive Substances Act has been filed in this regard
Police arrested three people, including a local leader of Hefazat-e-Islam, over hurling crude bombs at the law enforcers in Gazipur in the early hours of Monday.
Three police personnel sustained minor injuries in the incident and were given first aid, police claimed.
The arrested are -- Emdadul Haq, 50, Kaliakair upazila unit ameer of Hefazat, and his two brothers Mohammad Ali, 48, and Ashraful Islam, 40.
Emdadul is the principal of Chandra Darul Ulum Mahmud Nagar Madrasa, and Ashraful is an assistant teacher of the institution, while Ali is a businessman in the locality.
Gazipur district Detective Branch (DB) of police Officer-in-Charge Amir Hossain said they had a tip-off that a group of miscreants might commit subversive activities on Chandra-Kalampur Road in Kaliakair, protesting against the arrest of Hefazat central leader Mamunul Haque.

A team of DB police conducted a drive in Kalampur area around 12:15am when some 35 to 40 miscreants hurled crude bombs at them, leaving three police personnel injured, he said.
The law enforcers also opened fire in self-defence.
The detectives apprehended the three while other miscreants fled the scene, he said.
"We are conducting drives to arrest the other perpetrators," the DB official added.
The three police officials were taken to Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Kaliakair police station Inspector (Operations) Parvez Ahmed Selim said police filed a case under the Explosive Substances Act in this regard.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area, he said.
