The ceremony took place on the street in front of the municipality office street as the office was reduced to rubbles in arson attack by activists of Hefazat-e-Islam in March.
At the event, newly elected mayor Nayer Kabir said she had to take office as the mayor under open sky due to vandalism and arson attacks by the Hefazat activists.
Asking for everyone’s cooperation, she said: “We are trying to resume the public service as early as we can but without the cooperation of all it won't be possible."
Municipality Secretary Shamsuddin, Executive Engineer Nikash Chandra Mitra, Assistant Engineer Md Kauser Ahmed and Accounts Officer Md Kauser were present at the event.
Nayer Kabir was elected as the mayor for the second time in the Brahmanbaria municipality election on February 28. She is the vice president of Brahmanbaria district Awami League.
