The alleged killer is armed and on the run
A member of the Parbatiya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS-MN Larma) was shot and killed allegedly by a colleague in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati early Wednesday.
The deceased was later identified as Biswa Chakma alias Juddha, confirmed Baghaichhari police OC Ashraf Uddin.
According to witnesses, Biswa and his colleague Sujan Chakma were on duty in the Babupara area on Tuesday night.
Around 2:30am, when other PCJSS members went to sleep, Sujan strategically locked himself with Biswa and shot him indiscriminately, killing him on the spot.
Hearing the gunshots, others rushed to the spot and found Biswa lying in a pool of blood.
They claimed Sujan fled with three firearms from the scene of the crime.
Police have sent the body to the Khagrachhari General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
"The motive behind the killing is not clear. Efforts are on to catch Sujan," the OC said.
Following the shooting, security in the area was beefed up and patrolling of the Bangladesh Army and police teams were increased.
