Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Abdul Matin Khasru has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka after contracting Covid-19.
Khasru, also a former law minister, was taken to the ICU on Sunday midnight but he was not in danger, according to media reports on Tuesday.
He was admitted to the hospital nearly two weeks ago, on March 16, hours after testing positive for the coronavirus, his personal assistant Md Mohin told reporters.
There is nothing to be worried about as Khasru’s physical condition was stable at the ICU, Mohin said, adding that the SCBA president’s oxygen level is under control.
“The level of sodium has dropped slightly,” he said.
A presidium member of the ruling Awami League, Khasru served as the law minister during the party’s 1996-2001 regime. He was also elected lawmaker during the 1991-1996, 1996-2001, 2008-2013 and 2014-2019 terms.
